Medical Assistant COMING MAY 2024

This course provides students with a comprehensive learning experience, designed to provide, through lecture and clinical instruction as well as online learning, a body systems approach to the role of the medical assistant. Lectures cover the anatomy, medical terminology and medical conditions pertaining to each body system. Clinical instruction provides hands-on training of the procedures associated with each body system. Competency is verified through a skills check-off system. Completion of the course prepares students to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification Exam (CCMA).

  • Assisting Providers with Exams and Procedures
  • Performing Basic Laboratory Tests
  • Removing Sutures and Changing Dressings
  • Refilling Prescriptions
  • EKG
  • Blood Draw
  • Manual Blood Pressure
  • Manual Urinalysis Reading
  • IM, Subcut, and Intradermal Injections

 

Instructional Areas

  • Hybrid classes includes reading chapters, completing assignments, and studying for tests at home. Students will be scheduled to come to class 3 days out of the week to acquire hands on training, and the last week will be used for CPR & CCMA testing.

  • In-person classes are Monday - Thursday, 140 hours of applied studies and laboratory.

  • Perform hands on studies to complete course (test-out)

Students will receive their certificate of completion on the last day of class!​
